DURAFLOR SL 2
A SELF-SMOOTHENING EPOXY TOPPING 2-3 mm THICKNESS
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Surface Preparation
Substrate to be coated must be sound, clean and free from any contamination. Total enclosed shot blasting or scarifying should be employed followed by thorough vacuuming. All applications must be carried out in accordance with manufacturers 'written instructions.
DURAFLOR SL 2 should be applied by specialist application s who must follow by the product application guide. The following steps are involved in the applicatio n procedure s involved. The following steps are involved in the application which would normally take place over a 3.5 day period.
Application
Thoroughly prepare the floor surface, If necessary repair and level the floor surface. Apply primer UNIPRIME 134 RAPID by roller and allow to cure. Apply DURAFLOR SL 2 floor topping by trowel, squeegee or roller. Thoroughly y spike roll the DURAFLOR SL 2 and allow to cure. Installation time will vary with site conditions , the areas involved and the system chosen.
Mixing
Pack component s are pre-weighed d for optimum performance. Never split or proportion packs. Add Hardener B to Base A in a mixing container. Mix with a slow speed drill and helical spinner, or in a pan type mixer, until uniform. Mix in the Filler C in binder (A+B) with a drill and helical spinner, or in a pan type mixer until uniform. Take care not to entrain air.
LIMITATION
DURAFLOR SL 2 should not be applied onto surfaces known to suffer from rising damp conditions or having a relative humidity of greater than 75% as measure in accordance with BS 8203 Appendix A or by a Vaisala thermo hygrometer type HMI 31. If such an occurrence should happen it is recommended to apply DURAFLOR NWB 21 as a moisture barrier. Further information available upon request. If movement or cracking of the substrate takes place after application then reflective cracking of the topping may occur. All know expansion joints should be maintained in the topping.
DURAFLOR SL 2 should not be applied to the following substrate: Asphalt, unmodified sand cement screeds, PVC tiles or tiles.
TEMPERATURE
DURAFLOR SL 2 should not be applied at material or floor temperature s below 10ºC. Temperature should not fall below 5ºC in the 24 hrs after application.
NB.
Concrete slabs exposed to low temperatures act as a heat sink. Heating with hot air gas blowers for 24 hrs can take the air temperature from 4ºC to 20ºC but the concrete slab may only be raised up to 6ºC.
SUBSTRATE MOVEMENT
All moving joints must be carried through the DURAFLOR SL 2 and properl y sealed. Construction joints and cracks may be covered but if substrate movement occurs, the DURAFLOR SL 2 will reflect the cracks.
REPAIRS AND LEVELS
All damaged areas of floor should be made good and up to level with EPOFIX 712 MORTAR applied over wet UNIPRIME 134 EM. To rectify levels use Epoxy Scratch Coat DURAFLOR (SC) prior to DURAFLOR SL 2 application . If moisture content is above 75% RH as per BS8203, use DURAFLOR NWB 21 as a moisture barrier.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Some of the components of this product may be hazardous during mixing and application. Keep out of reach of children. For further information, refer to the product Material Safety Data Sheet available upon request.
